From Artspace: "Idris Khan's recent turn to painting is exemplified in this darkly enigmatic lithograph, which is based on a series of five works the artist made in response to the sixth issue of E.R.O.S., Death Part 1. In these, Khan scrawls the phrase Death of Painting over and over in black oilstick, until the sense and form of the words is obliterated into a Malevichian void. One of these paintings was then photographically translated into a direct lithographic plate, and printed on a nineteenth century hand press using an ink specially formulated by the artist and printer."
