Description

Predating Aperture's 2005 Lux monograph, this publication features three of Lux's most engaging "imaginary portraits," in which she subtly manipulates the images to produce painterly representations of children that are somehow slightly "off," but no less mesmerizing. From the artist: "The pictures are not portraits in the traditional meaning of the word. I call them imaginary portraits. They are not really about the children that I photographed. I rather made them my own."
