Fine black silk cloth-covered boards with title stamped in gray on cover and spine and tipped-in black-and-white plate on front and rear covers; no dust jacket as issued; contained in a custom clamshell box. Photographs by Eiji Ina. Text by Ryuichi Kaneko. Includes a laid-in, folded poster with a chart of Japanese emperors and Kaneko's text in Japanese. Unpaginated (132 pp.), with 145 duotone plates beautifully printed on heavy matte paper. 11-5/8 x 14-3/8 inches. This first edition was limited to 1,000 copies.
