First edition, first printing. Limited edition of 55 copies (this being number 12/55), with six original silver dye bleach prints (dye destruction print, Cibachrome) and one unique hand-painted gelatin silver print. The gelatin silver print (image size 7-1/4 x 9-3/4 inches, paper size 7-3/4 x 9-7/8 inches) is signed and dated verso by Levinthal. The Cibachrome (dye destruction) prints (image size 9-3/4 x 9-3/4 inches, paper size 11-1/2 x 10-1/2 inches) are each signed and dated in the lower margin by Levinthal. The book is numbered and signed in pencil on the limitation page by Levinthal and Ellroy.
Hardcover. Custom tri-fold portfolio with mounted gelatin silver print on outer cover (protected with acetate), enclosing loose tri-folded sheets with text and mounted cibachrome prints with acetate overlays. The portfolio is contained in a paper-covered slipcase with tipped-in printed label on front. Photographs by David Levinthal. Short story (in French and English) by James Ellroy. Designed by Olivier Andreotti and Pénélope Monnet. 32 pp., with six cibachrome prints and one hand-painted gelatin silver print. The photographs were printed by Cone-Laumont Editions, Ltd., New York. The book was printed by Julio Soto, Madrid. Slipcase is 13-1/8 x 12-1/8 inches.
