First edition, second printing. Signed in black ink on the half title page by Kenna. Hardcover. Fine red silk with title stamped in white on front cover and in black on spine. This exquisitely produced book is enclosed in a black silk-covered Japanese-style hand-made three-sided hinged case, with debossed Japanese characters on the front (the case folds out when the 'bone-like' clasps are removed). Three-sided hinged case size is 12-7/8 x 12-3/8 inches, book size is 12-7/8 x 12 inches. Photographs by Michael Kenna. Introduction by Kohtaro Iizawa (in Japanese and English). Designed by Hideyuki Taguchi and Chris Pichler. Unpaginated (108 pp.), with 93 tritone plates reproduced 1:1 from original sepia-toned gelatin silver prints, beautifully printed on heavy fine art matte paper. Published to coincide with a number of exhibitions in Japan and the United States, opening in 2003 at the Robert Mann Gallery in New York. This second priming was limited to 4000 hardbound copies. Out of print.
